Following the dismissal of Enzo Maresca, Enzo Fernández is reportedly reconsidering his long-term future at Stamford Bridge. While Paris Saint-Germain monitors the situation, the midfielder’s record-breaking contract and Liam Rosenior’s arrival create a complex standoff, turning one of Chelsea’s cornerstones into a major summer transfer doubt.

The stability of Chelsea's midfield has been thrown into question this week as reports emerge that Enzo Fernández is "weighing up his options" regarding a future away from Stamford Bridge. The Argentine World Cup winner, who arrived in London for a then British record fee of £107 million in 2023, is reportedly unsettled by the club's recent decision to dismiss head coach Enzo Maresca. 

Despite Maresca leading the Blues to success in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2025, a breakdown in relations with the club hierarchy led to his exit on New Year’s Day.

The appointment of Liam Rosenior as Maresca’s successor appears to be a sticking point for Fernández. According to French outlet L'Équipe, the midfielder shared a deep professional bond with Maresca and is skeptical of the club’s new direction under Rosenior, who was recruited from fellow BlueCo owned side Strasbourg. While Enzo Fernández has remained a core pillar of the squad currently sitting as the team's joint-top scorer for the 2025/26 season alongside João Pedro there are growing concerns that his long term commitment to the project has wavered.

PSG manager Luis Enrique is reportedly eager to overhaul his midfield, seeking a world class partner for Vitinha to address recent inconsistencies from players like João Neves and Fabián Ruiz. While the French champions are monitoring the situation closely, sources indicate they are unlikely to launch a formal bid during the current January window, instead viewing Fernández as a "priority target" for the summer of 2026.

Despite the player's reported dissatisfaction, Chelsea remains in a formidable negotiating position. Fernández is currently tied to a massive contract that runs until June 2032, following a one-year extension triggered by the club to assist with FFP amortisation. This long term deal means any potential exit would require a staggering transfer fee, likely in excess of his original £107 million valuation.
