The Wireless Festival 2025, held from July 11 to July 13 at Finsbury Park, London, reached a fever pitch on its final night when Afrobeats star Rema joined global rap icon Drake on stage, creating one of the most electrifying moments of the festival’s 20th anniversary. The surprise collaboration, which took place on July 13, sent the crowd of over 50,000 into a frenzy and ignited social media platforms, particularly X, with fans hailing the performance as a landmark moment for Afrobeats on the global stage.

‎Drake, a perennial festival favorite, paused his high energy Sunday set to introduce Rema, whom he praised as “one of the most important voices coming out of Africa right now.” The crowd erupted as Rema took the stage, delivering a captivating performance of his latest single, “Is It a Crime,” alongside the rap superstar. Their chemistry was palpable, with Rema’s smooth vocals and infectious energy complementing Drake’s commanding presence. 

‎Wireless Festival 2025, renowned for its celebration of hip-hop, R&B, Afrobeats, and grime, provided the perfect backdrop for this transatlantic collaboration. The Sunday lineup leaned heavily into Afrobeats and dancehall, featuring powerhouse performances from Nigerian superstar Burna Boy and Jamaican legend Vybz Kartel, making Rema’s appearance a natural fit. 

Drake’s three-night headlining stint was a historic first for the festival, with each evening showcasing a different facet of his catalog: Friday focused on R&B, Saturday on rap, and Sunday on Afrobeats and dancehall. Rema’s guest spot was one of several surprises, with Drake also bringing out UK stars Skepta, Central Cee, and Dave, as well as international acts like Lauryn Hill and PARTYNEXTDOOR, delighting the sold-out crowd.

‎Drake’s history of championing African artists, from his collaborations with Wizkid on “One Dance” made his decision to spotlight Rema a natural extension of his support for the continent’s music scene.
