Drake Calls Out Justin Bieber for Ignoring Collab DM in Viral IG Moment

A potential musical reunion between two of Canada’s biggest stars, Drake and Justin Bieber, has fans buzzing after Drake publicly noted that Bieber has yet to reply to his direct message about a collaboration. The exchange, unfolding on Instagram, has reignited interest in a possible joint project between the Grammy-winning rapper and the pop sensation, who last teamed up over a decade ago.

Drake and Justin Bieber

The story began on April 6, when Justin Bieber took to Instagram with an intriguing proposition. Posting a series of abstract selfies, the 31-year-old singer captioned the update, “Dm me if u wanna make music together,” effectively opening the door to collaborations with fellow artists.

The invitation quickly drew attention from a slew of prominent names in the industry, including Big Sean, Kehlani, and Jaden Smith, all of whom expressed interest by commenting “Check DMs” or similar messages. However, it was Drake’s response that stole the spotlight. The 38-year-old Toronto native wrote, “I DM’d but no reply,” a candid remark that blended humor with a subtle nudge, instantly amplifying the post’s reach.

Drake’s comment, which has since gone viral, has set social media ablaze with reactions ranging from excitement to amusement. Fans of both artists have pointed to their shared history as evidence of untapped potential. The pair previously collaborated on “Right Here,” a standout track from Bieber’s 2012 album Believe, showcasing a smooth blend of Drake’s introspective rap and Bieber’s pop R&B vocals.

Their connection dates back even further, with Drake making a memorable cameo in Bieber’s breakout “Baby” music video in 2010. Over the years, they’ve crossed paths on stage most notably during Bieber’s 2012 OVO Fest appearance and have consistently spoken highly of each other in interviews, cementing a mutual admiration that spans their Canadian roots.

For Bieber, the Instagram post marks a significant signal of intent. The Stratford, Ontario native has been relatively quiet on the solo music front since releasing his sixth studio album, Justice, in March 2021, which spawned hits like “Peaches” and earned critical acclaim.

While he’s made occasional guest appearances and teased new material, his recent social media activity suggests he’s actively preparing for a return to the spotlight. Inviting collaborations could be a strategic move to diversify his next project.

Potentially tapping into the creative energy of artists like Drake to refresh his sound. Drake, meanwhile, remains a prolific force in the industry. Fresh off the release of $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, a collaborative album with PartyNextDoor. The  rapper continues to dominate charts and headlines.
