Rubi Rose Faces Social Media Backlash After Weighing In on Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar Debate

Rubi Rose has found herself at the center of a firestorm after inserting herself into the perennial debate over hip-hop heavyweights Drake and Kendrick Lamar. Rose sparked outrage with a seemingly innocuous post on X. The comment, posted without further context, reignited a long simmering rivalry between the two artists.

The timing of Rose’s remark aligned with a moment of triumph for Drake, whose collaborative album with PARTYNEXTDOOR, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart on February 27, 2025, with over 200,000 equivalent album units sold in its first week.

This commercial success offered fresh ammunition for Drake’s supporters, potentially emboldening Rose to take a swipe at those who had crowned Kendrick Lamar the victor in their highly publicized 2024 feud.

That rivalry, marked by a flurry of diss tracks Kendrick’s chart topping “Not Like Us” and Drake’s “Family Matters” among them had seemingly tilted in Lamar’s favor, with his track earning two Grammy wins in February 2025 and a headline performance at Super Bowl LIX.

The response was immediate and unrelenting. On X and in the comment sections of outlets like The Shade Room, which amplified the story on March 1 with a post captioned “Social Media Drags Rubi Rose Over Drake vs. Kendrick Take,” users unleashed a torrent of reactions.

Kendrick Lamar’s supporters were quick to defend his legacy, with one commenter asserting, “Will always be Kendrick over Drake facts don’t care about your feelings,” while another declared, “Y’all can never make me hate Kendrick, sorry.”

The backlash wasn’t limited to musical allegiance; many took aim at Rose personally, with barbs like “Remember when you pretended to date Druski?” a nod to her rumored 2024 fling with comedian Druski and “Ain’t nobody asked her nothing tho,” underscoring the sentiment that her opinion was unsolicited and unwelcome.

Rose’s affinity for Drake is well-documented. In 2021, she celebrated what she interpreted as a shoutout on his track “7am On Bridle Path” from Certified Lover Boy, and more recently, her social media activity has featured his music prominently, including posts vibing to cuts from the new PARTYNEXTDOOR collaboration.
