Kanye West Sparks Controversy with Tweets Targeting Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and Their Children
Kanye West, the Grammy-winning rapper and producer, has once again found himself at the center of a social media firestorm after posting a series of inflammatory tweets on March 19, 2025. The posts, directed at music icons Beyoncé and Jay-Z, as well as their young children, Rumi and Sir Carter.
In the now-deleted and partially reuploaded tweets, West made derogatory comments about Rumi and Sir, the 7-year-old twins of Beyoncé and JayZ. Among his claims, he suggested that “having retarded children is a choice” and referenced artificial insemination in a manner that many found both insensitive and unfounded.
After initially removing the posts, West later reposted some of the content, accompanied by a defiant message: “If Twitter take my s**t down then so be it but I need yall to know Jay Z or nobody have no power over me.” He clarified that his decision to delete the original tweets stemmed not from remorse, but from a desire to avoid potential account suspension a move that did little to quell the backlash.
The reaction online was swift and overwhelmingly negative. Fans, commentators, and fellow artists condemned West for targeting children and employing offensive language. “Kanye’s behavior has crossed a line,” one X user wrote. “You don’t go after kids, period.”
Others pointed to the hypocrisy of Kanye West, a father himself, dragging minors into his personal grievances. The incident has amplified ongoing discussions about mental health, accountability, and the responsibility of public figures with massive platforms West’s X account alone boasts millions of followers.
This latest outburst appears rooted in West’s complex history with Beyoncé and Jay Z, a relationship that has oscillated between collaboration and conflict over the years. Once close allies West and Jay Z famously worked together on the 2011 album Watch the Throne their bond has frayed publicly on multiple occasions.
Tensions flared notably in 2014 when the Carters skipped West’s wedding to Kim Kardashian, an event he later referenced in grievances aired during concerts and interviews. More recently, West has used social media to vent frustrations about perceived slights from the couple, though neither Beyoncé nor Jay Z has engaged with his provocations directly.
