The evening showcased a fusion of international and local talent, with Nigerian Afro-pop sensation Simi and acclaimed DJ Consequence sharing the stage with John Legend. A standout moment came when Simi joined the American superstar for a heartfelt duet of his soulful track "Refuge," blending their distinct vocal styles into a performance that resonated deeply with the audience.

Legend’s setlist was a masterful journey through his discography, featuring timeless hits such as "Ordinary People," "All of Me," and the upbeat "Green Light," each met with rapturous applause from the Lagos crowd.

The Move Afrika Tour, spearheaded by Global Citizen, is more than a series of concerts it’s a bold initiative designed to drive economic and social progress across Africa. By leveraging the power of live entertainment, the program aims to create job opportunities, foster entrepreneurship, and strengthen health infrastructure in host countries.

Following a successful show in Kigali, Rwanda, on February 21, the Lagos event underscored the tour’s commitment to bridging East and West Africa while spotlighting the continent’s vibrant creative industries.

A key highlight of the Lagos stop was its emphasis on local involvement. Over 90% of the production crew hailed from Nigeria, and the majority of the equipment was sourced domestically, showcasing the country’s burgeoning capacity to support large-scale international events.

This focus on local talent and resources aligns with Move Afrika’s broader goal of fostering sustainable growth within African economies.

The seamless execution of the concert from stage design to sound engineering served as a testament to Nigeria’s rising prominence in the global entertainment landscape. For attendees, the night was a celebration of music’s unifying power.
