Phoenix Suns Acquire Guard Eric Gordon, Strengthening Their Backcourt Rotation.

The Phoenix Suns have secured a valuable addition to their backcourt rotation with the acquisition of guard Eric Gordon, as reported by The Athletic's Shams Charania. The details of the deal have not been disclosed, but given the Suns' payroll situation, it is likely that Gordon signed for the veteran minimum.

Gordon, aged 34, was a highly sought-after player this offseason, as noted by Charania, and he deliberately declined more lucrative offers to join the Suns. According to The Athletic's Kelly Iko, Gordon also considered the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets as potential destinations. During the previous season, Gordon was traded from the Rockets to the Clippers.

By joining the Suns, Gordon will be part of an impressive lineup alongside stars such as Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and the recently acquired Bradley Beal.

As Booker and Beal are expected to start for the team, Gordon will likely assume a reserve role as the Suns pursue their championship aspirations. Additionally, Gordon's reliable 3-point shooting, with a 42.3 percent success rate in 22 games for the Clippers and a career 3-point shooting percentage of 37.1, will further enhance the team's offensive capabilities.

Throughout the season, Gordon averaged 12.4 points, 2.7 assists, and 1.9 rebounds per game in 69 appearances, including 58 starts. The Clippers opted not to guarantee his $21 million contract, allowing Gordon to become a free agent, as reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski last week.
