Hilda Bassey: The beautiful young Nigerian chef that broke world Guinness record

She owns a food brand in Lagos called "My Food by Hilda" 

She hails from Akwa-Ibom state. The Nigerian chef has a degree in Sociology from Madonna University, Okija. Hilda started this brand with her brother while still in school.

Beautiful young Nigerian chef, Hilda Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, made a historic feat on Monday when she broke the Guinness World Record for longest cooking time by an individual. 

As of 11:22am on Monday, Baci has cooked for 91 hours and 21 minutes to surpass the previous record set by an Indian chef, Lata Tondon in 2019.


Hilda launched into the competition on Thursday at exactly 4 pm when she put on her cooker.

The restaurateur carries on despite having broken the record as she aims to cook for 96 hours, setting a new world record as the first human on earth to spend such an amount of time cooking.


The chef has been getting massive support, especially from Nigerians, celebrities and politicians in the country.

Nigerians stood by her despite a heavy downpour in the wee hours of Monday.

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has shown his support for Hilda Baci, a chef, as she attempts to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking time.

Mr Sanwo-Olu on Sunday cheered the foodpreneur at the event, currently being held at Amore Gardens, Lekki.

He urged the crowd of supporters present at the event to continue cheering her on and wished her success.


Several Nigerian celebrities such as Dremo, Spyro, Banky-W, Skiibii among others have also visited the venue to encourage the chef.


She holds a number of other national and international awards, including the India Book of Records, the Asia Book of Records, 

the Indo-China Book of Records, the Vietnam Book of Records, the Laos Book of Records, and the Nepal Book of Records, to name a few. She also won the International Indian Chef of the Year award in 2018.

Lata Tandon, a chef from Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, set a Guinness World Record - cooking for 87 hours and 45 minutes non-stop.

 She became the first woman in the world to accomplish this feat. The world record for the longest cooking marathon previously belonged to Rickey Lumpkin from Los Angeles, California, USA, at 68 hours, 30 minutes, and 1 second.

 Lata Tondon, a London-based chef, wanted to become the first Indian woman to hold the world record.
